Thank you for your interest in submitting to CHP Zine! Please read the following guidelines below before submitting. Please keep in mind that CHP Zine is run entirely by volunteers. 100% of any reading or expedited reading fees will be used to fund the creation and distribution of the Zine, as well as to provide payment towards the contributors who are published in our Zine. Compensation details can be found below.
For our Zine, we accept all genres, styles, and forms of poetry, flash fiction, creative nonfiction, and essays. We also accept visual art. See guidelines below for more information!
Submission Guidelines:
• Poetry: 2 pages or less per poem, up to 3 poems per submission period. Submit your poetry as a single Microsoft Word file. Each poem should begin on a separate page within the same file attachment.
• Flash fiction: 500 words or less, 2 pieces per submission period. Submit your flash fiction as a single Microsoft Word file. Each flash fiction piece should begin on a separate page within the same file attachment.
• Creative nonfiction/Essays/Hybrid Work: 1,000 words or less, 1 piece from this category per submission period. Submit your creative nonfiction, essay, or hybrid work as a single Microsoft Word file.
• Visual Art: photography, drawings, paintings, collages, digital art/mixed media. Please send high-resolution JPG or PNG files (300 dpi preferred). Artists may submit up to 5 individual pieces per reading period. Each piece should be a separate file attachment within the same submission.

Please include a short bio (150 words or less) for yourself with your work.
Each Word File should be titled as such: LASTNAME/FIRSTNAME_ISSUE#_GENRE
Example: SMITHJANE_ISSUE1_POETRY
If you would like an expedited decision for your submission(s), you may send $5.00 per submission file to CashApp ($cryingheartpress). Make sure to put a note in the payment you send with your name and your submission categories. If you choose to receive an expedited decision, please include that in your submission email along with your CashApp handle and bio.
All word files should be submitted in 12-point Times New Roman font.
All submissions must work within the theme for Issue #2 (see below).
We do not accept simultaneous submissions or previously published work. This does not apply to work you have shared on your social media.
You may submit once to each category per reading period. If you submit 3 poems between April 17, 2026 and June 15, 2026 you may not submit a second time to the poetry category; however, you may submit to a different one.
We accept work from anyone, regardless of race, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, country of origin, religion, age, sex, or disability. International as well as local artists are encouraged to submit.
Submission and Deadline Dates for Issue #1:
• April 17, 2026, Submissions for Issue #2 CHP Zine will open.
• June 15, 2026, Submissions for Issue #2 will close.
• Date TBD, all contributors will be notified whether their work has been accepted.
• Date TBD Issue #2 will be available for purchase through the CHP store.
As stated above, we offer expedited decisions on your submission(s) for $5.00 per submission. See details above. Decisions will be made within 5-7 days of payment received.
ISSUE #2 THEME: Bread or Blood. Long live the Revolution. This midterm election year, give us something we can’t ignore. What enrages you? What moves you? What can’t you remain silent about? We want it.
We will select 1-3 poems to highlight with a CHP Zine Choice Award. Each highlighted poet will receive compensation for their contribution as well as a free copy of the publication which they are featured in. First place will be awarded $40, Second place $25 and Third place $15.
As our Zine grows, our goal is to compensate all contributors in future issues.
CHP Zine asks for First North American Serial Rights and the right to archive your work on our website. Rights revert to the author/artist upon publication.
